What do you enjoy about working with the SI program and/or having a class with an SI Leader?
I have enjoyed observing how the SI Program offers a great opportunity to both leaders and students to develop their communication and study skills, to evaluate their own work and reduce dependence on external feedback. Business statistics courses often require extensive independent study and practice, and SI offers valuable college skills such as note-taking techniques, time management, and problem-solving strategies. Receiving feedback from SI Leaders on the material that students struggle with helps me to adjust lectures to better meet student needs.

What would you say to students who are trying to figure out whether or not to go to SI Sessions?
If SI Sessions are provided for your class, why not give them a shot? You will receive personalized support and learn from your fellow students in small group settings. Attending SI Sessions can help you improve your grades and increase your confidence for the exams, but don't wait until it's too late. Plus, the best part is that SI Sessions are completely free. If you are looking to succeed academically do not miss out on this opportunity.

What would you say to a faculty member or department who is interested in having SI?
"The proof of the pudding is in the eating!" I highly recommend trying the SI program, especially if you are teaching very large classes. Not only does it help students to have small group experiences that they might not get in large and intimidating classrooms, but it can also help to free up more of your time and energy to focus on developing course materials, delivering effective lectures, and providing extra support to students who need it the most.
